Smíchov

Smíchov is Prague’s industrial soul gone modern. It isn’t the fairytale city you see in postcards. Instead, you get a gritty, high-energy mix of 19th-century facades and glass office blocks. Most travelers stick to the Old Town. You shouldn't. Head south of Malá Strana to the left bank of the Vltava. This is Prague 5. The Anděl intersection anchors everything. It's loud, fast, and packed with locals. But walk a few blocks and you’ll find quiet riverside paths. Or climb up to Sacré Coeur for a view of the city without the crowds. It’s perfect if you want real food and cheaper beds. Plus, the air usually smells like hops from the massive local brewery.
