Historia

Vitéz Kürtős started this whole thing in 2013. They wanted to save the traditional charcoal-baked method from cheap, gas-baked imitations found at every corner. It worked. The event was originally held at Városháza Park, but it got too crowded. Too many hungry locals. By 2016, they moved to the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden for more breathing room. It turned the event into a massive family party. Over the last decade, they've brought in guest bakers from Transylvania to keep the standards high. They added 'Make Your Own' workshops and allergy-friendly stalls. Now, it's the biggest celebration of this specific Hungarikum. Tens of thousands of people show up every October.
