이벤트 소개
The ORLEN Prague Marathon isn't just another road race. It's a 42.195-kilometer loop through a city that looks like a film set. Every May, 10,000 runners take over. The start happens in Old Town Square. You'll stand under the Týn Church spires. Then, the speakers blast Smetana’s "Vltava." It’s a moment that stays with you. You'll charge down Pařížská Street. You'll cross the Vltava River. The route is fast. And it’s flat. You'll run across Charles Bridge without a single tourist in your way. That alone is worth the entry fee. Live bands play at every corner. The crowd in Old Town Square carries you home. It's a proper bucket-list run for anyone with a pair of trainers.
역사
This race started in a pub. In 1994, Carlo Capalbo and Gelindo Bordin sketched the route on a napkin over beers. They got Czech legend Emil Zátopek on board. The first race in 1995 had under 1,000 marathoners. Now, it's a massive World Athletics Elite Label event. Alexander Mutiso set the course record here in 2023 at 2:05:09. It has grown fast. But it keeps that local feel. You can still run it as a relay. The Marathon Music Festival keeps the pulse high. It’s a cornerstone of the European circuit now.
The Course & Route

You start and finish in Old Town Square. It’s a fast course. You’ll fly down Pařížská Street early on. Then comes the highlight. You run across Charles Bridge. Usually, it’s packed with tourists. For this race, it belongs to you. You’ll see Prague Castle across the water. The route sticks close to the Vltava River. You'll pass the National Theatre. Look out for the Powder Tower. You'll even run by the Dancing House. Watch your footing on the cobblestones. They’re part of the local character. But they’ll test your ankles. The course is mostly flat. It’s built for personal bests. Fans line the entire 42.195-kilometer stretch. Their energy is infectious. By the time you hit the final stretch, the roar of the crowd in the square does the work for you.
How to Enter

Plan ahead for this one. It sells out. Go to the RunCzech website. You’ll need a Runners ID to sign up. Prices go up as the race gets closer. You’ll pay between €70 and €120. Early birds get the best deal. Your fee covers the essentials. You get a bib with a timing chip. You get access to aid stations. You get a medal at the end. You can pay extra for a shirt. Some runners pay for medal engraving. If the main race is full, look at charity spots. Or grab a partner for the '2Run' relay. It splits the distance in half. This makes the weekend doable for almost any runner.
Spectator Guide

Prague turns into one big party on race day. Old Town Square is the heart of it. But it gets packed. Move to Pařížská Street for more breathing room. Or head to the Letná Park Metronome. You’ll see the sea of runners from above. Follow the music. There are over 20 bands along the route. These spots are the best for cheering. Use the RunCzech app to track your runner. It gives you live updates. Don't try to drive. Roads close early. Stick to the metro. It’s the only way to get around quickly. You can hop between stations to catch your runner multiple times. Just make sure you’re back at the finish for the big moment.
오시는 길
대중교통
Take Metro Line A (Green) to Staroměstská station, which is a 3-minute walk to Old Town Square. Alternatively, take Metro Line B (Yellow) to Náměstí Republiky and walk 8 minutes. Surface trams are heavily diverted, so rely strictly on the metro.
자동차
Driving into the city center on race day is strongly discouraged due to extensive road closures starting early morning. Use Park & Ride (P+R) facilities at the outskirts of the city, such as Letňany (Line C) or Zličín (Line B), and take the metro to the start.
택시/승차공유
Taxis and ride-sharing apps like Uber or Bolt cannot access the immediate start/finish area in Prague 1 due to strict road closures. The closest drop-off points are typically near Náměstí Republiky or the National Theatre, requiring a 10-minute walk.
팁
- •Arrive at least an hour before the 08:00 start to navigate the dense crowds and find your designated starting corridor.
- •Check the official RunCzech app or DPP website for real-time public transport diversions on race day.
