This isn't a generic glass box. You are sleeping in a piece of 1911 engineering. Back then, this silo fed the city. Now, after a heavy-duty renovation by design studio THDP, it houses travelers. The bones of the building are still there, but they've been softened with walnut finishes and deep blues. Look closely at the metalwork in the lobby. The copper and brass accents are a direct nod to the mechanical cranes that once unloaded grain ships on this very dock. It's rugged but polished. And because it was a warehouse, the proportions are generous. No tiny elevators or narrow hallways here. It feels solid, quiet, and unmistakably Viennese in its own utilitarian way.

The wellness area is a genuine standout, mostly because of the view. Most hotel saunas are tucked in windowless basements, but not this one. The panoramic sauna features floor-to-ceiling glass looking straight onto the Danube. Watching the river flow while you're at 80 degrees Celsius is a trip. If you prefer a sweat with a view of the skyline, head to the 8th-floor gym. It overlooks Danube Island and stays open 24 hours. In summer, the outdoor pool area is the place to be. It’s got a legitimate resort feel with sun loungers and a volleyball court. It's the perfect antidote to a long day of walking the Ringstrasse.

OXBO is the heartbeat of the hotel, and it avoids the typical blandness of hotel dining. The focus is farm-to-fork. They source ingredients from regional Austrian producers, and you can taste the difference in the schnitzel. The bar is a highlight, too. It features a massive bronze gantry that looks like a reimagined boat crane. It’s a cool spot for a drink, but if the weather is even remotely decent, get outside. The waterfront terrace is where you'll want to eat every meal. Grab a table at sunrise for the breakfast buffet (the fresh honeycomb is excellent) or hit it at dusk for a cocktail. Watching the lights of the city reflect on the water beats any indoor dining room in town.
