Vyšehrad means "upper castle." It's a 10th-century fortress perched on a rock over the Vltava. This was the first seat of Czech dukes. Now, the old walls surround a massive, quiet park. It's in Prague 2, just south of New Town. Look for the twin neo-Gothic spires of the Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul. They dominate the hill. The streets drop steeply toward the water.
