Your journey kicks off at Akadémia Dock No. 2 on the Pest side. Don't look at your phone. You'll want your eyes on the Széchenyi Chain Bridge as the boat slips underneath its massive stone arches. The highlight is the Hungarian Parliament Building. It's a 180-degree sweep of neo-Gothic architecture lit up like a jewel box. On the Buda side, the Royal Palace and Fisherman’s Bastion glow from their hilltop perch. You'll also catch the Liberty Statue on Gellért Hill and the grand facade of the Gellért Baths. The ship cruises north toward Margaret Island before heading south to Rákóczi Bridge. It covers the entire UNESCO-listed waterfront. Grab a spot on the open upper deck. The breeze is worth it for the photos.

Show up at Akadémia Dock No. 2 at least 30 minutes early. Seating is first-come, first-served within your ticket tier. You'll want a table near the window, but don't sweat it if you're in the middle. The real views happen on the deck anyway. Dress is smart casual. You don't need a suit, but the Gróf Széchenyi is a classy old ship, so leave the gym shorts at the hotel.
